Building homes, Building Hope

Inverhuron Build Project

Completion Date: August 6th to 13th 2005

Overview:
Habitat for Humanity is an independent, charitable, faith-based housing program dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing by building homes in partnership with families in need. We build simple, decent, and affordable houses and provide interest-free mortgages to families who would otherwise not be able to purchase their own home. The Habitat program is about home ownership and providing a long-term solution designed to break the poverty cycle.

Habitat for Humanity is:
A non profit ecumenical Christian-based organization that seeks to eliminate poverty housing.

Habitat's Goal:
For every person to have simple, decent affordable housing.

As you can imagine this is an ambitious project. Even more so, since we hope to build two houses at once in one year down in lovely Inverhuron.
To do this we will need as much help as possible. There are three types of help we need:
1.    Committee Members: Limited to roughly 9 per committee. These people will do the organizing of the various parts of the build.
2.    Volunteers: These are people who want to help and we want your help! these people will work under one or more of the Committees and don't necessarily have to have any experience at all. If you want to be a volunteer, send an Email to the committee that interests you and let us know what you would like to do. if you are unsure what you want to do, or don't mind where you work, send the Email to the Volunteers committee and they will help you chose the appropriate area for you. The Volunteer form (word document, please download first) or  (pdf file) can be filled out and dropped off at Timbr Mart in Kincardine, mailed to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce (the address is on the form) or filled out and sent electronically to the volunteer coordinator.
3.    Sponsors: We really need sponsorship. It can take the form of money, materials, assistance and many other forms. To be a sponsor for this wonderful project please contact the  by Email. PR and Fundraising Committee Helen or Jo-Ellen will give you the details on how you can help us out. To this date the Municipality of Kincardine has very kindly donated the land for this project and we hope you can help out anyway you can.
